Mariana-Art Gallery in St.Briavels, Forest of Dean, will be holding an extraordinary Art Exhibition which concentrates on all aspects of close-ups and distance – and other ways of seeing beauty, colour and pattern in nature.  The theme for her Christmas Exhibition this year is “Zoom”.

Along with paintings by Professor Julian Wimpenny and local artist D. Mariana Robinson, there will also be Binoculars, Telescopes and Monoculars by Chris Robinson.   These viewing instruments are from the late 1890’s through to the 1960’s so can be classed as either antique or classic.   Famous names such as Ross, Zeiss etc. can be bought second hand but recolimated and cleaned.  Optically they are excellent and will make an interesting Christmas gift for someone special in your life, whether you need them for viewing wildlife or checking the condition of the tiles on your roof!

The gallery also has a selection of silver jewellery by Debbie Aldecoa, Ellwood Pottery by Cath Hopkins and Earthenware by Russian artist Tanya Saltmarshe.  In addition, there are lots of gifts – such as the popular St. Briavels Mugs, art materials, watercolour tuition vouchers and greetings cards from which to choose.  Forget the hassle of driving into town, parking and pushing, and take a leisurely browse around the gallery during the exhibition period where you’ll receive a warm welcome.

The Zoom Exhibition opens 12.00 noon on 5th December 2009 to 20th December 2009.  Open daily from 10.30 – 5.00 (closed Tuesdays).
