Join over 25 local food and drink producers on Sat 31st March from 11am to 4pm to taste, chat to the producers and buy. Food and drink available will include chutneys and preserves; cheeses, salamis and cured meats, yoghurts and ice cream; ready meals and cakes; pies, crisps and sausage rolls; juice, cider, wine and liqueurs. To add to the atmosphere at 3 Shires Garden Centre near Newent there will also be live folk music, cookery demonstrations, and refreshments including local cider, ale, wine and a hog roast. The kids can enjoy the free Easter egg hunt and craft activities. As a bonus, the whole event can be staged under cover if necessary – so fun will certainly be had whatever the weather!
The Spring Food Fair is being organised for the first time by food store Brown and Green, located on site at 3Shires Garden Centre. In 2011, the store (formerly called Shepherd’s Farm Shop) won the ‘Best Local Food Retailer’ award at the Taste of Gloucestershire Food and Farming Awards, as well as being named South West Runner Up in the Deli of the Year Competition. Susie Keenan, director and founder of the food store explains “We are very lucky in this area, with such a diverse range of artisan food and drink producers on our doorstep who we are privileged to work closely with. Our Spring Food Fair is about highlighting and celebrating this local produce, as well as putting on a relaxed foodie day out for all the family to enjoy, with live music, delicious food and fun activities to entertain the kids. We look forward to welcoming our loyal regular customers, as well as new visitors, and are certain that the Food Fair will also provide a showcase for our new re-vamped store, and our range of local and artisan food that we are very proud of.”
