Peter Hands and his staff at The Speech House Hotel were delighted to host John Craven & his BBC Countryfile colleagues recently when they were filming in the Royal Forest of Dean.
John met & presented to a select group of invitees to The Speech House, the film “The Major” made 60 years ago by the BBC. The film was a documentary on the felling of a great oak tree that was adjacent to the bus stop outside The Speech House Hotel. He also showed one of the first natural history programmes made dated 1912 on British Wildlife. The event was all part of a programme due to be screened on a Countryfile special on the 14th October 2012.
