On Sunday 23rd June, the Forest of Dean’s Redhill Extreme will, for the 7th time host a round of this exciting sport. The British 4X Series is head to head 4 man mountain bike racing down a fast, man made, and obstacle packed track. The track at Redhill Extreme has been evolving for the past 7 years, never fails to create fantastic racing and is known for its high speed, abundance of big jumps, tight corners and incredible view over the River Severn and Gloucester.
The bikes used by the top riders are especially designed for this style of racing, being very light and strong, with short, stiff front suspension and aggressive geometry. The 4X track (and others at Redhill) can be ridden on a normal hardtail (no rear suspension) mountain bike.
Along side the cream of Britain’s 4X elite will be numerous young riders from the Forest of Dean and Gloucestershire area, notably Huntley’s Cara Murray, Drybrook’s James Whitby, Westbury-on-Severn’s Keaton Greenwood, Gloucester’s Luke Limbrick, Tom Gethin and Rich Lane. There is also a fun category for anyone who wishes to enter on the day – bikes must have a front brake and
riders must wear a full face helmet.
Racing is free to spectators. The 4X track and others are available to ride on the weekends and Wednesday evenings.
Redhill Extreme is at Elton Farm, Newnham-on-Severn, Glos, GL14 1JU.
