Places to stay, things to do, good food and drink
Artists and craft makers will be converging on Newent this week to demonstrate their work at Memento Gifts of Newent during the Forest and Valley Open Studios art trail. Memento’s gallery gift shop sells for more than 50 makers who live or work within sight of May Hill.
Each day this week a different artist visits to demonstrate their work and chat with visitors. Wendy Bird, Brian Griffiths, Edward Clark, David Brindley and Jean Faulkner are just some of the artists and makers who will be demonstrating their techniques in Memento this week. Their work varies from fine art photorealism through botanical painting to card crafting, so there are new things to find out and something to interest everyone.
Come in and browse, chat or just watch. All work is for sale.
Other nearby studios open for the event are Jan Evans at Springfield Rough, Cliffords Mesne & Anne Bulley & John Lockwood at Yew Tree Farmhouse, May Hill Longhope. The annual F&VOS art trail wends down into the Forest of Dean and through the Wye Valley to Chepstow with over 50 artists showing in 33 locations this weekend until 5pm on Sunday 21 July
Look out for the red pennants flying when studios are open.
