Celebration of the Hedgehog in Ross-on-Wye

Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire

Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire

The hedgehog is the town emblem of Ross-On-Wye which is in an area once called the ‘Land of the Hedgehogs’ by Celtic invaders more than 1500 years ago. The humble hedgehog is the UK’s oldest mammal and is on the verge of extinction.  Ross-on-Wye is reviving its historical links, interest and support for the hedgehog from the 26th April – 18th May 2014 – inspiring children and adults to explore the world of hedgehogs and their habitats using creative arts media as well as getting people to walk the Hedgehog Trails and Treasure Hunts whilst munching on hedgehog cakes, buns and sweets being sold from local shops.
