Places to stay, things to do, good food and drink
On Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th April YHA St Briavels Castle is hosting a 1940s – WWII event 11-5pm. The weekend is a must for all WWII enthusiasts with fascinating talks about The Lovat Scouts, RAF Bomber Command, US paratroopers, and the Royal Engineers, plus equipment displays and informative historical facts.
There will also be plenty to keep children entertained and educated about this important period of history; with a chance to text their physical fitness on the junior assault course, and their mental skills on Project Airfix and the Bomb Disposal challenge. Arrive as an evacuee and enter the “Best Dressed Evacuee” competition to win a prize.
Linda Harrison, YHA Manager: “We are very excited at the prospect of welcoming the Glamorgan Home Guard to the Castle, who will be billeted on-site for the whole of the weekend. We are also being joined by an amazing team of historical interpreters who will really bring this amazing period of history to life”.
Entry is free and everyone is welcome (although a small charge does apply for some activities). Refreshments (a celebration of Great British Favourites) are available. For more information please call the Castle direct on 01594 530272 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org
