Autumn adventures in the Forest of Dean & Wye Valley

With autumn officially upon us the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley are getting ready for the cooler months with lots of autumn activities. With brewery experiences, cider making and Halloween fun, there’ll be something on offer for everyone to enjoy!

Now that summer is gone we thought you would like to know what exciting activities the autumn will bring. A weekend getaway and daily activities and are on offer this year so here is a quick run down of what’s on!

Nano Brewery Experience Day, Forest of Dean & Wye Valley
Learn about the theory behind the brewing process and recipe development with a full day of training with Hillside Brewery’s Master Brewer! This experience is hands on, provides lunch and includes a tasting session of classic local ales. £100

Cider Making with Kate’s Country School, Forest of Dean 
On the 24th & 25th of October you have the opportunity to learn the ancient arts of orchard keeping and cider making. Pick your own fruit and see the process from the trees to the barrel. £90

Dragon Festival, Dean Heritage Centre
Have you ever met a dragon? Join us on our Dragon Walkabout on the 25th and 26th of October and see our beautiful baby European dragons. They’re all newly hatched from our favourite Dragon sanctuary in the Welsh Marshes. £6+

Cider-making with Ragmans Farm, Forest of Dean & Wye Valley 
This experience is very interactive in making apple juice and cider with a short introduction into cider making, picking your own fruit and then washing a pressing you pick! You’ll even get 15 litres of apple juice to take home to home to make your own cider. £70

Foraging at the Foxhunter, Forest of Dean & Wye Valley
Learn to identify wild foods while enjoying a leisurely walk through some of the local woodland and hedgerows, then rest your weary legs while we serve up dishes containing your finds.

Monmouthshire Walking Festival, Forest of Dean & Wye Valley
In this centenary year of World War I the Monmouthshire Walking Festival will be commemorating World War I and II during the festival from the 25th of October to the 2nd of November. there are three to twenty mile walks to choose from, experienced guides will take you across spectacular trails rich in local history.

Herefordshire Cider and Perry Tour, Forest of Dean & Wye Valley
