We’re starting to feel festive!

Here’s what we’ve got to look forward to in the lead up to Christmas from dancing to donkeys, caves to carols to castles…

Exclusive Christmas Cave tickets with Tudor Farmhouse, Forest of Dean
In a first time collaboration, this year visitors can skip the huge queues to Clearwell Cave’s annual Christmas Fantasy as nearby luxury hotel, Tudor Farmhouse, are giving their guests exclusive access after the caves have officially closed! Visitors who book Christmas with Tudor Farmhouse will enjoy their own out-of-hours Christmas Fantasy tour at 4pm on Christmas Eve, included in the hotel’s three-night package which now includes a FREE bottle of champagne in your room on arrival too!

29th Nov 6pm  – Newent Christmas Lights Switch On
Traditional, family-friendly event which brings out all that’s best about the Christmas spirit, set in a picturesque historic market town decorated with Christmas trees & holly trees. Snow is guaranteed in the square that evening! More than 60 local organisations each dress a tree in the historic church. There will be a Christmas market and a craft fair around the market square during the switch-on day, including live music, dance, hot locally produced food with holly & mistletoe for sale. A children’s treasure hunt runs during the afternoon through the main streets. After dark, the Christmas parade starts from the Elizabethan-era Black Dog pub towards the market square. Led by a traditional nativity scene with a live donkey, the parade includes children’s fancy dress, Santa on his sleigh and special guests to switch on the lights.

29th Nov – 21st Dec – Santa’s Sparkling Christmas at Dean Heritage Centre
Give your little ones enchanting Christmas memories with a visit to see Santa at the Dean Heritage Centre’s brand new grotto. During four weekends families will be able to meet the big man in red and take part in Christmas craft activities. Including a mince pie for adults and small present for children with Santa available to meet at the weekends. Entry: adult £8.00, children £6.00

6th and 7th December – Christmas Fayre at Hot Pot Pottery
The perfect place to buy unique, locally made Christmas presents from a range of local craftspeople. Or create your own unique presents for friends and family by painting pottery in their cosy tea-room space. They guarantee that any pottery painted at the fayre will be fired and available for pick up/postage before Christmas. Hot Pot Pottery will be open 11.00 to 16.00 on 6 and 7 December.

12th Dec 7pm – Carols by Candlelight at Goodrich Castle

Kick off the festive season with some Christmas carols in the atmospheric setting of Goodrich Castle. Take advantage of the chance to buy some unique gifts in the gift shop too. Adult £8.50 / Child £5.10 Members: Adult £6.00 / Child £3.60

12th Dec 7.30pm – Christmas Streetfood with Humble by Nature, Forest of Dean
Native Breeds Charcuterie are acclaimed and award-winning for their Frankfurters and Pastrami across the UK. In collaboration with Humble by Nature, the Street Food Night will showcase the best local farming and the unique skill of charcuterie, for a celebration of authentic  American Diner food in this all you can eat buffet. £32.50 pp

13th Dec 10am-4pm – Christmas Market at Hanley Farm Shop, Forest of Dean

Savour the flavours and atmosphere of a really traditional Christmas Market with lots of stalls selling an Aladdin’s cave of crafts, gifts, local produce. It will be a great opportunity to meet local crafts people, growers and specialist food producers and pick up some unusual and unique Christmas gifts and treats.

Every weekend in December Santa and his Elf buddy will be visiting Krazygolf Lydney. The children will be invited to follow the story Ivy and the Magic Snowglobe around the acre of woodland site, at the end of the story they will find Santa on his sleigh and meet his Elf helpers. Once they have met with Santa and received their gift ( only those on the nice list of course) a round of Krazygolf on the 15 hole course is available. Santa will be there December 6th and 7th 13th and 14th 20th and 21st and Christmas eve. During the month of December they are offering 1/2 price admission!
