Gloucester Services, on the M5 northbound, was rewarded its first rating by VisitEngland Motorway Service Area Quality Scheme, a full five stars.
This innovative food business opened in May 2014 and offers locally sourced, seasonal food and produce. There are no fast food chains or franchises at the services, only a farm shop selling locally produced food, a butchery and a cafe that serves homemade dishes.
“We’re delighted to be recognised by VisitEngland. We’re hugely proud to be bringing a completely unique experience to the M5. We believe quality, local food shouldn’t be considered the preserve of a handful of high end shops. It’s exciting to be able to introduce our passing trade to the abundance of fantastic Gloucestershire produce we have available here.”
Gloucester Services southbound, opening in May 2015, will also be shooting for five star status and have started to recruit nearly 150 new staff.
