Places to stay, things to do, good food and drink
Have you ever thrown a pot or had a go at archery? Well here’s your chance to learn something new.
After an amazingly successful event last year, it was decided the festival must continue. Taking place at the Speech House Hotel on Sunday 26th of April, this year’s Forest Activities Festival will offer indoor and outdoor activities for locals and tourists alike.
With activities ranging from archery to photography, mountain biking to bushcraft, there are plenty of things to do for all the family. Learn about the flora and fauna of the forest, let your children build dens out of natural materials, and enjoy live music, local foods, arts and crafts, and so much more.
“The aim is for people to come and have a go, to try out a new experience! The event will feature many displays, demonstrations and taster sessions as well as showcasing some of our fabulous local food & local musicians. We hope the event will cater for all ages, but we are especially keen to introduce children & young people to new activities that encourage a more healthy & active lifestyle as well as promote the Forest of Dean as a centre for people to come a stay.”
Amanda Smith, Festival Organiser
The Forest Activities Festival is a fun full day out for all the family, but we’d certainly recommend spending a few more days in the Forest of Dean. Just 15 minutes drive from the festival is Taurus Crafts with a range of local crafts such as throwing and decorating your own pot. For the more adventurous (and that’s anyone with children!) why not have a day in the trees, zip wiring and climbing with Go Ape Treetop Adventure?
