MonDean Walking Festival

MonDean Walking Festival

This year we begin an exciting new venture as walk leaders from the past team up with walkers in the Forest of Dean to create the MonDean Walking Festival. Our partners are – Chepstow Walkers are Welcome, Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Tour Guides, Ramblers (Forest of  Dean), Lower Wye Ramblers and Monmouth Walkers are Welcome. This will allow us to offer walks across the county of Monmouth from the Black Mountains through the Monnow and Usk valleys to the Wye Valley and to pick up the link on its opposite bank with the beautiful Forest of Dean – capturing the industrial and geographical links between the areas as well as their stunning scenery.

On our first weekend you may wish to climb the three peaks around Abergavenny in one day –  the Blorenge, Sugar Loaf and Skirrid,  while our final weekend sees an opportunity to follow the Three Castles Walk, Skenfrith, Whitecastle and Grosmont – again all in one day.

As well as these we  offer a photography walk exploring the pastoral scenery of Monmouthshire; another leading us on a discovery of the Forest of Dean section of the Gloucestershire Way from Parkend, deep in the Forest, to May Hill with its fabulous views over many counties; delving into the industrial past of the Forest of Dean while crossing the glorious woodland setting. We offer the chance to visit some stunning scenery on delightful rambles on many interesting walks from 3 – 8 miles in length.

These are on all to be found during this year’s festival week 27th June – 5th July 2015.

Booking now available on the website www.walkinginmonmouthshire.org

We look forward to welcoming old friends and new walkers to this year’s brand new MonDean Walking Festival 2015
