VisitEngland has launched Home of Sport – a campaign to encourage people from around the country to nominate their own personal ‘home of sport’, be it Old Trafford or a village cricket green to help find the country’s ultimate sporting capital.
We are so fortunate in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean to boast a wealth of sporting locations, from cycling to local rugby pitches, from tree top adventures to meandering walks and of course, the River Wye itself. You can help us to promote our fantastic sporting credentials by uploading your own suggestions.
Do you have a favourite cycling path? Have you got a snap of surfers on the Severn Bore? Is your town the birthplace of a famous sportsman? Please do upload your pics to Instagram or Twitter the hashtag #homeofsport and #DeanWye, tag the location and encourage your friends to do the same.
All nominations are being displayed on a Sports Wall at www.englandhomeofsport.com and it’s great to see that #DeanWye is already popping up, do take a look and join in the fun!
Nominations close on 31 August. In September, VisitEngland will put a shortlist of destinations out to public vote! England’s Home of Sport will be announced on 23 October.
