Good King, Bad King, Sad King
Goodrich Castle take a fun look at what makes a King or Queen great on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th August. What sort of Royal will you be? Grab your crown and find out if you have what it takes! Tickets: Adult £6.60 /Child £4.00 /Concession £6.00 /Family £17.20. All children are welcome to take part in this event. An additional £1 will be charged on standard admission for every member and non-member child to help us fund this entertainment activity.
Big Woody Triathlon
For those who fancy a more active weekend, Wild Boar Events are hosting the Big Woody Triathlon on the 29th August. With the swim taking place at the incredible National Diving and Activity Centre near to Chepstow, a bike course taking in an Area of Outstanding natural beauty and a beautiful woodland route through woodland for the run, it’s one of the most scenic triathlons out there!
The race HQ is based at Taurus Crafts there are free camping, showers and changing for the athletes and their supporters. All finishers receive a medal and the honour of completing one of the toughest middle distance events in the UK.
The Biggest One Day Show in Wales
Come along for a magnificent day out to the Monmouthshire Show situated on the banks of the River Wye. The Show is held on the last Thursday in August each year and remains committed to the support of agriculture and the drawing together of town and country. The Monmouthshire Show has something for everyone including agricultural events, dogs shows, a food hall packing with local produce, amusements and trade stands.
Family Fun Day at the races
Head to Chepstow Racecourse this Bank Holiday Monday and you can meet Paddington Bear, the star of 2014 hit movie. Paddington will be appearing at regular intervals during the afternoon.
Entry for children aged 18 and under is free and once inside the course all the children’s entertainment is also free. A family ticket is available in advance for just £29 and allows admission for two adults and unlimited children. There will be a rugby skills playzone provided by Newport Gwent Dragons, a football skills playzone provided by Cardiff City Community and Education Foundation, a jockey’s autograph session, bouncy castles and face painters. A steel band will be supplying music during the afternoon.
You can also bring your own picnic (please note no alcohol can be brought into the racecourse – there are plenty of bars to purchase drinks inside). Special hospitality packages include £39.00 per adult with under 12′s eating for just £1 in the restaurant or a family box from £299 for ten people.
