Coleford’s new Tourist Information Centre servicing the whole Wye Valley and Forest of Dean is on track for opening its doors to the public at 10am on Saturday 19th March.
The project which is led by Coleford Town Council , supported strongly by the Tourism Association and Coleford Area Partnership, aims to plug a critical gap in the current tourist experience to the region by providing a fully staffed facility with access to both printed literature and online services.
Cllr Nick Penny, Deputy Mayor of Coleford who is leading the project said that “We have been overwhelmed with the response to our recent appeal for volunteers and are now going through the final stages of recruitment and induction of over 25 local people who will undertake regular shifts in the Coleford centre. We now urge local attractions, accommodation providers, and tourism related businesses to make themselves known to us and to supply us with leaflets and information so we can help promote their businesses within the region.”
Cllr Penny continued; “We will open our doors on a drop in basis from 10am until 4pm on Monday 14th March for tourism providers to come and see the facility and to hand over any leaflets. The Tourist Information Centre is located at 4 Lords Hill, Coleford, which is opposite the police station.”
