An annual festival held within the stunning grounds ofChepstow castle. The festival hosts live music from some fantastic performers, each bringing their own unique sound to the historic venue.

Creative Detectives

Creative Detectives is a series of family-friendly sessions, delivered by Rachel Shilston from Inspiring Creativity, who encourages you to explore the countryside together, through a range of fun and creative activities. After the two-hour session, you will become a ‘Creative Detective’, hunting out colours, unearthing textures. Take part in a ‘hedgerow safari’, plus experiment with photography creating cool ‘sun prints’. Suitable for all ages from toddlers to grandparents.

Three Choirs at Caldicot Castle

Join host, acclaimed Welsh tenor, Wynne Evans and the Chepstow, Monmouth and Caldicot male voice choirs for an evening of entertainment in aid of the Monmouthshire & District National Eisteddfod.

The choirs will perform separately before joining for a grand finale, bringing them together for the first time in over thirty years.

Day out with Thomas
19th August 2016 – 21st August 2016

Dean Forest Railway

A great day out for Thomas the Tank fans, as the famous little blue train puffs into the platform at approximately 9:45 for the start of a fun-packed day. Thomas’ first task is to find the coaches for the “big” train, pull them into the platform and then we’re off.

Activities include:

  • Unlimited travel on the steam train to Lydney Junction.
  • Story-telling trip into the forest all the way to Parkend in Daisy the Diesel
  • Rides in Toad the brake van pulled by Thomas – Look out for Sir TophamHatt!
  • Devious Diesel and the Troublesome Trucks will be providing entertainment.
  • Face painting, Bouncy Castles and Competition with prizes.
  • The Imagination Station – with colouring pages, table-top toys and regular magic shows.
  • Musical children’s entertainer travels on the steam train.
  • Day Out With Thomas Certificate for all children riding.

A truly immersive pirate activity day: See the pirates engage in bloody battle with the king’s men to gain control of the castle and hear the roar of cannon and musket fire, the clash of polished steel as swords are drawn. Children’s Activity Days at Nature in Art
Throughout the year during the school holidays Nature in Art are running a wide range of Activity Days for children.

Each Activity Day has a theme and each workshop interprets that theme using age appropriate materials and techniques.

The times are:
10.30-12.00pm: for 3 – 7 years
1.00-2.30pm: for 3 – 18 years
3.00-4.30pm: for 8 – 18 years
