The Wyedean Rally is set to return the Dean Wye next month, with a new date and a new sponsor. The event will be taking place on Saturday 12th November and will be known as the Winner Garage Skoda Wyedean Stages Rally.
The Wyedean Rally was left out of the national rally championships last year after 32 seasons. The rally organisers, Forest of Dean Motor Club have moved it back to the traditional date in November while retaining the Welsh championship status.
The new look Wyedean Rally will no longer have stages at Chepstow Racecourse and will be run entirely in the Forest of Dean. The start and finish, as well as the service areas will be located at the Vantage Point Business Village located in Mitcheldean. The event will feature six special stages and around 40 miles of the best gravel roads in the UK.
Directors at the Cinderford Skoda Dealership, Adrian Williams and Bob Morgan have had a long standing association as competitors in the Wyedean.
Adrian said “With our long association with the Wyedean, it made sense for a local business to get behind the event and safeguard its long-term future. It’s a privilege for us to be associated with one of Britain’s top rallies with its long and illustrious history, and we will be supporting the new organising team all the way.”
Chairman of the Welsh Association of Motor Club, Paul Loveridge said “It’s attracting a lot of attention because people want to come to the Forest of Dean. The Forest tracks are in the best condition they have been for years and people are supporting the event.”
Approximately 120 cars will be taking part in the event and organisers say the financial impact for the Forest of Dean and its local businesses will be ‘immense’.
