The Military Wives Choir in concert

The Military Wives Choir will be giving a concert in Hereford Cathedral on Wednesday 30 November, which will be the final performance in their ‘Home for Christmas’ tour.

The choir, which boasts two UK number one singles as part of their repertoire, will perform a selection of tracks from their soon-to-be-released new album Home For Christmas as well as from their two UK top ten albums In My Dreams and Stronger Together.Image

The Military Wives Choir first shot to fame when they took part in the fourth series of Gareth Malone’s The Choir, capturing the nation’s heart instantly and going on to secure their first UK number one single Wherever You Are.

Since then the group have created their own foundation dedicated to bringing together the wives and partners of servicemen and women across the country to sing in unity. In 2012 they also performed at the opening of the Olympic Stadium London, contributing to the Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber track Sing, which was created to mark the Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Two award winning companies, The Sherman Theatre and Theatr Iolo, have worked together to create a magical staging of The Emperor’s New Clothes by Hans Christian Andersen, especially for children aged 3 to 6 years old. Image

Featuring a talented cast of Welsh actors, this classic fairy tale is given a modern twist and in this deliciously mischievous re-telling, they delve into the Emperor’s past and show him as a young boy playing, laughing and being a bit naughty in a way that children immediately identify with.

This simple but ever popular tale is told through playful storytelling, live music and toe-tapping songs. Filled with laughter, music and a big sprinkling of magic, this is a must-see show for all little ones and their families this Christmas and is the perfect pre-Christmas treat for young audiences.
