Discover Cafes and Tea Rooms in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean

Whether it be intimate or large, quirky or traditional, the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean have lots of different cafes and tea rooms to find and enjoy, all year round. Locally produced food and drink can often be just next door to the cafe! There are breakfasts, Afternoon Teas and evening meals to eat; in the Dean Wye food is available throughout the day, with something to suit all tastes, diets and budgets.


Beechenhurst Café


Freshly cooked breakfast and lunch using local, seasonal produce. Homemade cakes and a variety of drinks and snacks served by friendly staff in fabulous forest surroundings with children’s play area. Their food and refreshments reflect the beautiful surroundings of the Forest of Dean, so their team has carefully selected and sourced the best local ingredients to serve you delicious breakfasts, lunches, light snacks and a tempting selection of homemade cakes. Freshly prepared each morning, from homemade lasagne to signature 16 hour roasted pulled pork, to carefully selected local seasonal daily specials, they believe there’s something for everyone – including Fairtrade Coffee and Rainforest Alliance Hot Chocolate.


Brockweir and Hewelsfield Village Shop and Café

With its stunning views down the valley and local artwork on the walls it is hard to imagine a more appealing place to sit and take a break. The smell of the freshly ground organic fair-trade coffee tempts you to linger, whilst the range of locally made food at competitive prices makes the Café a great place to lunch with friends. They also have a license to serve alcohol with meals which gives you the opportunity to try some local beer or cider.

The Café is also a space for local artists and photographers to exhibit their work.


Clearwell Caves Café


A gem of a cafe – drop in even if just passing by – serving delicious light meals, homemade soups, cakes and superb leaf teas or real coffee. The cafe walls are lined with fascinating mining memorabilia. Look out particularly for the extraordinary collection of striking oil portraits of local miners by artist Kathy Lewis.


Old Station Tea Room


Award winning tea room (twice voted best in Wales) and a Wales Tourism accolade winner in 2017, this charming tea room is situated in the original railway station waiting room at Tintern. You can enjoy a range of freshly prepared meals and delicious cakes.


The Old Dairy Tearoom


A great venue in the Forest for enjoying traditional afternoon and cream teas with an ever-changing lunch specials board featuring fresh, local produce. Housed in a cosy, traditional tearoom setting, you’ll find beautiful bone china, a friendly relaxed service and good old fashioned recipes. The Old Dairy serves everything from breakfasts & light snacks, to home cooked lunches, including Sunday roasts (booking advisable for Sunday lunch). Gluten-free bread, cakes & gravy, soya alternatives to dairy – including a heavenly homemade dairy-free chocolate cake – always available.


The Forest Retreat at Forest Holidays


Here you’ll find a friendly team, on hand to help you get the most out of your visit in the Forest. You’ll find freshly baked bread, croissants, and bacon and sausage baps, along with meats from the local butcher and all the everyday essentials. Also stocked is a range of delicious handmade preserves and locally made artisan cheeses. Delicious meals and snacks are served all day at the Forest Retreat.


Green and Jenks Gelato House


At Green & Jenks Gelato House they offer a range of freshly made Italian style ice cream, known as gelato, made in the shop every day. Gelato is considered to be a healthier option to traditional ice cream as it contains less fat.  By having less fat, it allows the flavours to be much stronger and even more delicious, which is why gelato is becoming the choice treat for foodies of all ages. Ingredients are all sourced locally, bursting with flavour and freshness.

Taurus Crafts Café is a relaxing place to unwind and enjoy a taste of local, organic and wholesome food and drink. Serving light refreshments throughout the day including daily specials using their own grown and local organic ingredients where possible. Speciality teas & coffees and hot chocolate served with a range of delicious cakes, biscuits and other baked treats. Taurus Crafts is a vibrant art and craft centre with Craft Units, Working Pottery, Gift Shop, Delicatessen, Wholefood Cafe, Art Exhibitions and Function Rooms.


Swan House Tea Room


Swan House Tea Room is a family run business serving morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon teas. Their meals, cakes and scones are all homemade with gluten free options.


Goodrich Castle Café


Relax and unwind in the atmospheric surroundings of Goodrich Castle Tea Room. Located within the Visitor Centre, the tea room offers a mouth-watering selection of drinks and snacks, all made from local produce.


Abbey Mill

3674-Rest a while at the award winning Abbey Mill in the friendly Coffee Shop & Cider Barn Restaurant. Morning Coffee & Cakes, Great Lunch Specials, Afternoon Teas. Home cooked dishes using local food producers where possible – fine wines including ones from Tintern Parva Vineyard, beers from Tintern’s microbrewery & ciders from Brockweir village. Specialities include the infamous “Dragon Pie”, local Rabbit Pie and famous “Mill Wheel” Tea Cake – big enough to share!


The Filling Station Café


Baguettes and sandwiches are freshly made for you with tasty fillings like Coronation Chicken, Tuna Mayonnaise and Welsh cheese and ham, amongst a few! They also offer a wide variety of traditional cakes and tray-bakes and delicious Marshfield ice-cream.
