Places to stay, things to do, good food and drink
Members of Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism (WVFDT) recently met for their quarterly Members Meeting at the historic Speech House Hotel, set right in the heart of the Forest of Dean. The networking event for both established and prospective members was attended by 60 people representing businesses from across Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire and Herefordshire, taking the opportunity to receive industry updates, socialise and network.
After an introduction by the Chair, Fiona Wilton, there was an overview on the important forthcoming General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) by Paul Williamson of Hillside Brewery, before presentations from Alison Breton, Chair of the Dean Heritage Centre Trustee Board and Ella Beard of Coleford Tourist Information Centre. The meeting was rounded off with WVFDT updates from Executive Director, Maureen McAllister and Marketing and Communications Manager, Tim Davies before networking and refreshments.
Key messages were the proposed themes and marketing direction of both VisitEngland and VisitWales for 2018, and members were encouraged to back these campaigns to gain additional publicity for their businesses.
Maureen McAllister, Executive Director for Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism, says: “We have such brilliant activities and attractions in the #DeanWye with very active and enthusiastic members. We were really excited about the ideas our members were suggesting to us at the meeting, that we can incorporate into our marketing and PR campaigns next year. 2018 will launch some exciting new products along with some great new members!”
WVFDT members include tourist attractions, accommodation providers, outdoor activities, food producers, events and services.
