It’s now official! Brayne Court Bed and Breakfast, a beautiful small historic country house in a village setting in the Forest of Dean is one of the best in the South West, having been awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ in the Bed and Breakfast of the Year category in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
Robin Baker, Director of Services for Tourism Ltd who manages the awards said, “to be recognised with ‘Highly Commended’ is a huge achievement, especially in England’s top tourism region, you are a credit to tourism and the region is proud of you.”
Part of the judging process is to be visited by a mystery guest who said,
“Brayne Court is a really super B and B. Apart from the considerable attraction of the building itself Jan and Nigel really engage with guests, and create a genuinely warm and welcoming atmosphere”.
Jan and Nigel, owners of Brayne Court said, “this Award tops off a fabulous year for Brayne Court which saw us receive a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor and a 9.9/ 10 rating from Booking.com. We are especially proud of these achievements as they are based on feedback from our many guests.
The Forest of Dean is a wonderful destination throughout the year with fantastic scenery and so much to see and do. We are thrilled to be recognised as having a part in the growth of hospitality in the area”.
Guests staying at Brayne Court can enjoy a historic country house with Norman origins set in a village location, described as an ideal venue to relax and unwind with glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, with one reviewer comparing the experience with staying in a child friendly museum, with a personal guide on hand. Many parts of the house are heavily beamed, and breakfast is served in the oak panelled dining room.
Maureen McAllister Executive Director of Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism said, “This excellent achievement is another example of how the Forest of Dean is being recognised for its range of quality accommodation, especially from the independent and family run businesses in the area.”
